KINYAMASIKA SEMINARY MARKS 25 YEARS

Today, all roads lead to St. Paul’s National Major Seminary, Kinyamasika, for the celebration of the seminary’s 25th anniversary. According to Fr Dr Lazarus Luyinda, the rector of the seminary, the celebrations will be graced by all the Catholic bishops of Uganda. Friends and benefactors of the seminary from Uganda and abroad will also grace the event.

“It is right and just that we give thanks to God for the gift of St Paul’s National Major Seminary, Kinyamasika, which has moulded so many priests since its inception 25 years ago. The enormous impact of the seminary is clearly visible through the productive activities of its alumni, including those who did not make it to priesthood.

I invite all people of goodwill to come and celebrate with us,” said Luyinda. The celebrations will start with a thanksgiving mass at 10:00am. Located in Fort Portal, Kabarole district, St Paul’s National Major Seminary, Kinyamasika, was started by the Catholic bishops of Uganda in 1992 to ease the congestion at St Mary’s National Major Seminary, Ggaba, which was the only National Major Seminary offering Theology at the time.

Kinyamasika offers a four-year theological and priestly formation course to major seminarians, prior to their ordination to the Catholic diaconate and priesthood. The seminary has churned out over • 400 priests since its inception.

Message of His Grace Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga on the Priestly Silver Jubilee of Rev. Fr. Dr. Joseph Sserunjogi it is with profound joy that I convey my heartfelt congratulations to our Jubilarian Rev.Fr. Dr. Joseph Sserunjogi. After twenty five years of fruitful priestly service in the Lord's vineyard, it is inevitably right to offer a thanksgiving sacrifice to the Lord for His Mercy and Goodness, because he has enabled you celebrate the mysteries of Christ faithfully and religiously as the Church has handed them down to us for the glory of God and the sanctification of Christ's people. This is the day that the Lord had made; let us rejoice and be glad in it (Ps 118:24).
